If you often have anxiety while you are at home, then you will be pleased to know there are many natural things you can do to help yourself feel calmer. Since anxiety is a difficult thing to successfully treat, you will likely need to try a variety of different things until you discover those things that work best for you. The good news is you don't need to spend a lot of money or buy any hard-to-find specialty items to help yourself feel better. Instead, follow these five simple tips:

Tip #1: Get More and Better Quality Sleep

As with many ailments, chronic anxiety issues are often caused by a lack of high-quality sleep. You need to sleep for about a third of every day, and you need to ensure your sleep isn't interrupted. You can greatly increase your sleep quality by getting a new alarm clock that does not light up your room at night and running a fan or white noise generator to block out the sounds outside of your bedroom.

Tip #2: Skip the Coffee Shops

Since coffee and tea contain caffeine and caffeine consumption greatly increases anxiety, you should always skip stopping at your local coffee shop. If you must drink tea or coffee, then opt for the decaffeinated versions.

Tip #3: Use Natural Essential Oils

There are many natural essential oils you can infuse in your home to make it a more relaxing place. Some of the most effective anxiety essential oils are:

  • lavender
  • yling yling
  • chamomile
  • lemon
  • rose

Place a few drops of one of these oils in your favorite infuser to help relax you.

Tip #4: Exercise as Often as Possible

You will not have as many problems with anxiety when the chemicals in your brain are functioning correctly. One of the best ways for you to lessen your anxiety is to get some exercise as often as possible. Even if your schedule is booked solid, you can always take the stairs at work or walk to the restaurant at lunch. The more exercise you get, then the better you will be able to relax at home.

Tip #5: Smile Because You Can't Feel Sad While Smiling

Finally, there is an interesting thing that happens in your brain when you smile. Since smiling uses one side of your brain and frowning uses the other half, it is physically impossible for you to feel sad when you are smiling. Go ahead and try it right now. Smiling will always help give you a momentary boost in happiness and reduce your anxiety.

However, my doctor mentioned that my use of western medicine didn't mean that I couldn't use natural methods to supplement my treatment. I started using ancient practices to soothe my treatment, and it helped a lot. In addition to rounding out my treatment, it also made it possible for me to endure harsh chemotherapy and painful surgeries. I want to teach you more about the power of natural medicine, so read my blog.
